About the position

Cognizant is seeking an experienced Android Developer to join their team in Richmond, VA. This role involves developing Android client code solutions within a financial organization, focusing on delivering high-quality customer experiences. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mobile development, particularly with Kotlin, and will be comfortable working in both agile and waterfall methodologies. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of projects and adherence to engineering standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop Android client code solutions that align with Product Strategy and established engineering standards.
• Collaborate with Software Engineers, UX/UI, Quality Engineers, and Product Owners to deliver engaging customer experiences.
• Participate in agile ceremonies and ensure team commitments are met on time and with high quality.
• Stay updated on mobile development technologies, including Kotlin and Swift.
• Engage in discussions with developers across various subject areas to enhance project outcomes.
• Lead the delivery of major components and platform needs in partnership with senior engineers and architects.
• Share best practices and improve processes within and across sprint teams.
• Identify technical obstacles early and collaborate with the team to find solutions.
• Review pull requests to ensure consistency with Kotlin and other language idioms.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
• At least 7 years of experience in software engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience building Android applications.
• At least 3 years of experience with Kotlin.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with digital platforms and distributed systems.

• Strong organizational skills.
