About the position

The Android Developer - Views position involves developing and maintaining the Material Views library, which is an open-source set of UI components aimed at enhancing the user experience for various applications. The role focuses on collaboration with designers and engineers to create accessible and adaptive UI components, ensuring that the library meets the needs of internal and external app teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop UI Components for the Views library.
• Collaborate with Material Designers, Material UX, and other engineers to develop features.
• Create design documents and API proposals to guide engineers in using the library.
• Work directly with Android app teams such as Maps, Drive, and Search.
• Write and release code that enhances user experiences for public and internal apps.
• Support internal teams through maintenance, migrations, and new feature work.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of total experience in Android development.
• Experience with Views libraries.
• Experience building UI Components for Android applications.
• Experience maintaining and releasing production Android applications.
• Ability to partner across PM, UX, PgM, and QA teams to meet organizational commitments.
• Familiarity with Android assistive technologies and Localization/Internationalization.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with specific tools or applications (e.g., Salesforce CRM).
• Relevant certifications or licenses (e.g., CPA, PMP, Cisco).
