About the position

Stratos, Inc. is the creator of the Stratos Bluetooth Connected Card Platform that combines plastic cards into a single, smart, dynamic card. Credit, debit, loyalty, membership and gift cards can be loaded into one mobile-connected card, empowering people to make better, more informed payment decisions while simplifying transactions through a familiar, reliable form. Stratos allows merchants and card issuers to strengthen brand loyalty with better data and improved communications to card users without infrastructure change. We are looking for a creative engineer to develop the mobile experience for the StratosCard by undertaking and owning fundamental development challenges. You will be joining a small but highly skilled team that is passionate about building software for both the consumer and the merchant. You'll be collaborating with all team members to help develop the vision for new features and products, providing creative and technical insight.

Responsibilities

  • Take start-to-finish technical ownership of features and/or applications from inception to delivery.
  • Work from technical, functional, and mockups to build the consumer-facing application.
  • Lead development efforts on mobile product features on Android.
  • Keep up with the latest Android technologies/versions and 3rd party tools.
  • Enforce a high standard of quality over the code base and application performance.
  • Own important pieces of the product that has high visibility.
  • Influence every aspect of the Android development process from API creation to design.
  • Help scale our mobile platform as we experience growth.

Requirements

  • An in-depth knowledge of Android development - not just the present, but the evolution of Android
  • Experience with the entire Android development lifecycle, including version control, build process, testing, and build distribution to both internal testers and the Play Store.
  • Experience building Android applications that are currently in the Play store.
  • Able to develop polished user interfaces, with attention to details and following detailed specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to create clean and testable code.
  • Experience with JSON, beta testing services, and unit testing.
  • Experience with version control tools (git).
  • Analytical and creative problem solving skills.
  • Skilled in time, priority and task management
  • Communication skills to interact with team members and support personnel.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced startup environment.
