About the position

Amtelco is seeking an Android Mobile Applications Developer to join our Software department, specifically for our Secure Texting Application. This full-time position is based at our corporate headquarters in McFarland, WI, and reports to the Secure Texting Product Manager and Team Lead Application Developer. In this role, you will collaborate with internal teams to develop functional mobile applications, focusing on creating user-friendly experiences. You will work independently and as part of the Mobile Applications Development Team to develop and maintain Android versions of Amtelco's communications applications. Your responsibilities will include supporting the entire application lifecycle, from concept and design to testing, publishing, and support. You will produce fully functional applications by writing clean code, gathering specific requirements, and suggesting solutions. Additionally, you will perform unit and UI tests to identify malfunctions and participate in code reviews with team members and senior software engineers. We are looking for someone who is passionate about mobile platforms and has a strong understanding of UI and UX principles. You will be expected to stay up to date with new technology trends and work closely with the Product Development Team to plan new features. Your role will also involve assisting the Field Engineering Team in troubleshooting customer-reported issues, ensuring that both new and legacy applications meet quality standards. Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Android versions of Amtelco's communications applications.
  • Support the entire application lifecycle including concept, design, testing, publishing, and support.
  • Produce fully functional applications by writing clean code.
  • Gather specific requirements and suggest solutions.
  • Perform unit and UI tests to identify malfunctions, with automated testing as a plus.
  • Participate in code reviews with the Mobile Applications Development Team members and Senior Software Engineers.
  • Troubleshoot and debug to optimize performance.
  • Design interfaces to improve user experience (UX).
  • Work with the Product Development Team to plan new features.
  • Ensure new and legacy applications meet quality standards.
  • Research and suggest new mobile products, applications, and protocols.
  • Stay up to date with new technology trends.
  • Work with the Software Documentation Team to develop system administration and user reference guides as well as online help files.
  • Assist the Field Engineering Team in troubleshooting customer-reported issues.

Requirements

  • Proven work experience (2 - 3 years) as a Mobile Developer with knowledge of Android development using Kotlin/Android Studio.
  • Knowledge of Apple development with Swift is a plus.
  • Additional relevant work experience, with an emphasis in software engineering and development, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Jetpack Compose UI framework.
  • Knowledge of Model-View-ViewModel (MVVM) architecture.
  • Knowledge of JavaScript, Visual Studio, and/or C# programming is a plus.
  • Knowledge of GitHub and Jira (Agile Methodologies).
  • Excellent analytical skills with good problem-solving skills.
  • Reliable with a professional attitude and good communication skills.
  • Experience in an answering service and/or healthcare environment is helpful.
