About the position

The Anesthesia Tech position at Memorial Hermann Health System involves assisting anesthesiologists in the operating room, ensuring the preparation and maintenance of anesthesia equipment, and providing support during procedures. The role emphasizes high-quality patient care, safety, and efficiency, while also promoting professional growth and development within the team.

Responsibilities

• Assist anesthesiologists as directed, performing duties according to the age/needs of the patient/patient population served.
• Prepare anesthesia machine and cart with required supplies prior to each case.
• Assist in maintaining anesthesia and monitoring equipment/ancillary devices, warmers, and accuracy of monitors, ventilators, and gas cylinders as indicated.
• Recognize specialty needs and anticipate preparation and follow-up for various cases.
• Assist with endotracheal intubation and extubation procedures during routine and emergency procedures.
• Perform inventory; order and restock anesthesia medications, trays, and supplies.
• Clean and restock anesthesia machines, carts, supply rooms, shelves, and refrigerators as required.
• Transport anesthesia equipment/supplies to other departments as needed.
• Ensure clean to dirty sanitation/containment and standard infection control precautions.
• Actively participate in Quality Assurance and associated documentation.
• Perform additional patient care duties as needed, such as patient hair removal and transport.
• Ensure safe care to patients adhering to policies, procedures, and standards of care.
• Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education.
• Model Memorial Hermann's service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized, and efficient experiences.

Requirements

• Successful completion of hospital specific orientation program.
• BLS certification required (American Heart Association).
• 2+ years of Anesthesia Tech experience preferred.
