About the position

The Anesthesia Technician plays a crucial role in delivering patient-centered care by providing essential anesthesia support to the anesthesia clinician during surgical procedures. This position involves preparing and maintaining supplies, patient monitoring equipment, and anesthesia delivery systems, ensuring a safe and optimal patient experience in the perioperative environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist assigned patients under the direction of the registered nurse according to patient care standards.
• Prepare and organize equipment and supplies for scheduled and emergent cases in anesthetizing locations.
• Transport and set up equipment needed for procedures, including laryngoscope blades, monitors, and oxygen tanks.
• Ensure equipment is decontaminated and in good working condition before each procedure.
• Follow department procedures for proper procurement and handling of non-controlled medications and I.V. fluids.
• Perform thorough room turnover between procedures, including cleaning and restocking anesthesia supplies.
• Demonstrate proficiency with equipment point-of-use care and transport.
• Calibrate and troubleshoot minor malfunctions of anesthesia equipment.
• Respond promptly to on-call situations as scheduled.

Requirements

• Current BLS Certification through AHA or ARC.
• 1-2 years of experience preferred.
• Good organizational skills.
• Ability to perform delegated functions safely and accurately.
• Strong judgment and problem-solving skills.
• Positive and professional communication with all internal and external customers.
