About the position

The University of Rochester is seeking a full-time Anesthesia Technologist to serve as a shift coordinator within the Anesthesia Technical Services department. This role involves performing a variety of technical assignments in a clinical setting, ensuring the proper setup and maintenance of anesthesia equipment, and providing critical support to anesthesia faculty and staff. The position requires a high degree of skill and judgment, as well as the ability to train and develop lower-level technologists.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a shift coordinator for Anesthesia Technical Services in the operating rooms.
• Train and develop anesthesia technical staff.
• Assist in the care of patients undergoing anesthesia, including preparation of anesthesia equipment and ensuring cleanliness.
• Operate the cell-saver machine and participate in advanced surgical cases.
• Ensure anesthesia equipment is in good working order and perform preventive maintenance.
• Assist in the development and implementation of in-service training programs for staff.
• Perform anesthesia equipment setup and troubleshooting, including testing infusion pumps and calibrating anesthesia machines.
• Set up rooms and carts between cases and provide full service setup at the end of the day.
• Provide backup to the shift supervisor in their absence.

Requirements

• A four-year college education with related technical training, or a two-year college education with technical training and two years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certification by the registry of the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists or other nationally recognized certifying body preferred.
