About the position

The Data Architect III at Alaska Northstar Federal (ANF) is a key role responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing relational and multi-dimensional databases to support a Department of Defense (DoD) program with the US Air Force. This position involves collaboration with technical staff and stakeholders to enhance applications and data structures, ensuring efficient data management and integration within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Defines, designs, and develops relational and/or multi-dimensional databases for warehousing of data.
  • Confers with client, technical staff, and team members to plan, design, develop, implement, and enhance applications, scripts, procedures, and metadata for relational databases.
  • Reviews current data structures and recommends optimizations and reconfigurations as warranted.
  • Generates data acquisition and archive recovery strategies.
  • Works with Database Administrators to migrate complex large scale applications into test and production environments.
  • Integrates new data with existing warehouse structure and continuously improves system functionality.
  • Evaluates and recommends new tools and methodologies.
  • Consults with vendors to integrate selected packages.
  • Deletes old data.
  • Develops and maintains all standards in accordance with data structures and models.
  • May work with organization departments to design and develop data marts.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance at minimum.
  • Must have active CompTIA Security+ CE or other applicable active 8570 IAT Level II Certification.
  • 15+ years experience with setting up and managing software and services in a DoD context.
  • Knowledge of secure enclave architecture and deployment.
  • Proficiency in infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, AWS CloudFormation).
  • Strong communication skills for engaging with stakeholders, including senior leadership, technical teams, and governance bodies.
  • Ability to document and communicate technical and governance outcomes clearly and concisely.
  • Team collaboration skills to work across departments and with Capability Delivery Teams (CDTs).

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe), including planning, execution, and retrospective processes.
  • Experience managing tickets, facilitating meetings, and leading team efforts for smooth onboarding, migration, and governance processes.
  • Skills in configuring Jira workflows, boards, and issue tracking for Agile SDLC processes.
