About the position

The Sr. Front-End Developer position at Leidos involves supporting the National Security Sector by developing and maintaining critical systems for the Passenger Systems Program Directorate (PSPD) within Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The role requires strong experience in software development, particularly with Angular and Java, and emphasizes collaboration in an Agile environment to enhance system capabilities that support national security missions.

Responsibilities

• Support all aspects of software development including designing, coding, testing, debugging, and maintaining products.
• Work independently with minimal supervision as a self-starter.
• Interface with software developers, analysts, and project team members using Agile SCRUM methodology and SAFe.
• Translate customer needs into user stories and deliver working capabilities at the conclusion of each sprint.
• Mentor junior and entry-level software developers to enhance their skills.
• Participate and/or lead sprint demonstrations and facilitate implementation of ideas identified at retrospectives.
• Effectively communicate technical challenges and potential solutions to leaders within Leidos and CBP.

Requirements

• BS/BA degree with a minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience or 8+ years of relevant experience with a Master's degree; OR 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum 10 years of software development experience including technologies such as JAVA and ANGULAR.
• 5+ years' experience developing cloud-ready applications and/or experience migrating applications to the cloud.
• Ability to obtain a CBP Background Investigation prior to start.
• Experience in an Agile/SecDevOps environment with proven ability to deliver on commitments.
• Knowledge of software design patterns.
• Extensive experience in building large scale web applications.
• Experience building applications using JS frameworks such as React or Angular.
• Experience with Java, Spring Boot, JSON, and JavaScript.
• Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL or Oracle.
• Experience with automated deployment tools such as Jenkins.
• Experience in Test Driven Development frameworks.
• Excellent debugging and optimization skills.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipeline.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git/Github.
• Experience enhancing the performance of high-traffic sites.
• Google Cloud experience.
