About the position

The Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for an Animal Medical Technologist. This position will perform tests in the Clinical Pathology Laboratory; perform clinical analyzes on animal body fluids and tissues, interpret and report results, and maintain the quality system through document reviews, trend analysis for all tests as well as corrective action reports and ensuring the quality of test results. The expectation is to have flexible work hours when demand/program requires it and a responsibility to our Quality Program.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tests in the Clinical Pathology Laboratory.
  • Conduct clinical analyzes on animal body fluids and tissues.
  • Interpret and report results of tests.
  • Maintain the quality system through document reviews and trend analysis.
  • Prepare corrective action reports to ensure quality of test results.
  • Adapt to flexible work hours as required by demand/program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree.
  • Completion of at least 6 months in a training program in Clinical Lab Science approved by the ASCP, AMT, and AMA.
  • ASCP or AMT certification (or equivalent) as a registered Clinical Laboratory Scientist.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor of Science from an accredited college or university in biological sciences.
  • Two years of experience in a laboratory with automated and some manual procedures.
  • Basic computer skills including databases, spreadsheets, word processing and data entry.
  • Excellent written and oral, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
