About the position

The Animal Nutrition Sales Internship at ALCIVIA is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in feed production, nutrition sales, and feed formulation. Interns will work closely with experienced professionals, gaining practical knowledge and skills in various aspects of the agricultural industry, particularly in animal nutrition. This internship emphasizes work-life balance, independence, and the opportunity to explore different business units within the cooperative.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with production tasks at the Feed Mill including manufacturing, inspecting, testing, receiving, mixing, packaging, and loading animal feed products.
  • Precisely weigh feed ingredients and medications while learning important aspects of the feed mill.
  • Monitor inventories to ensure proper ingredients are available for mixing.
  • Job shadow experienced Nutritionists and participate in sales consultations at the farm gate.
  • Conduct surveys or collect data with Animal Nutrition customers/members.
  • Attend sales training sessions and company outings with the Sales Team.
  • Assist with daily formulation activities and provide technical expertise for nutrient optimization.
  • Support sales and operational functions with small ruminant nutrition, poultry, swine, and other species as required.
  • Shadow the Commodities Team to gain knowledge of supply chain opportunities within the Animal Nutrition Division.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.
  • Participate in training and development programs to stay updated on product offerings and sales techniques.

Requirements

  • Working toward a Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Animal Nutrition or a related field.
  • Understanding of dairy animal husbandry and general industry knowledge.
  • Work/life experience in management and care of dairy animals.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to work.
  • Strong computer and technology skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong enthusiasm for building internal and external relationships.
  • Self-directed with a focus on taking action.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to accept responsibility while maintaining integrity.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in grain dust and outdoor conditions.
