About the position
The Animal Care Associate at Friendship Animal Protective League is responsible for the daily care and cleaning of shelter animals, assisting with animal intakes and adoptions, and interacting with the public. This part-time role requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while ensuring the humane treatment of all animals.
Responsibilities
- Cleaning of cages/kennels and assisting with daily animal care.
- Interacting with the public and providing information about animals available for adoption.
- Performing data entry and maintaining accurate kennel and computer records.
- Processing sales transactions and assisting with animal intakes.
- Administering vaccinations, blood-work, and medications for companion animals.
- Following safety guidelines to ensure a safe work environment and addressing any safety concerns.
- Working cooperatively with other staff members and representing the organization professionally.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with animals or in animal welfare is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience handling a variety of companion animals.
- Possession of an Ohio driver's license with an insurable driving record.
Nice-to-haves
- 1 year of experience in animal handling or care.
