About the position

The Animal Technician position at Astrix Technology involves assisting with pre-clinical testing and research for cancer treatments. Responsibilities

• Monitor, handle, and care for research animals, including providing feed, water, health checks, and cage changes.
• Maintain study records and preclinical research activity on each research animal.
• Conduct preclinical experiments including injection, bleeding, euthanasia, and necropsies.
• Provide animal health care, including preparation and follow-up tasks such as monitoring, tagging, weighing, and calipering.
• Assist with the receipt, stocking, and maintenance of supply inventories.
• Maintain clean room facilities and prepare for experiments.
• Handle radioactive materials safely and effectively.
• Perform surgical preparation and conduct pre-, peri-, and post-operative observations.

Requirements

• High school diploma with 2-3 years of related work experience; an Associate's Degree with 1-2 years of related work experience is preferred.
• Previous experience in animal husbandry or vivarium settings, particularly with mice or rodents.
• Lab skills including animal husbandry, pipetting, microscopy, and maintaining sterility.

• Interest in working regularly with radioactive isotopes.
• Interest in working with animal models of cancer.
