About the position
The Annual Machinist position involves extensive repair and maintenance of various types of turbines and mechanical equipment at power plants. The role requires a thorough understanding of precision machine work and the mechanical and hydraulic characteristics of both modern and obsolete equipment. The machinist will work under the supervision of a Production Manager and a Machinist Foreman, and will also supervise helpers or apprentices as needed.
Responsibilities
- Repair hydraulic turbines, steam turbines, electric and steam driven pumps, and other mechanical equipment.
- Inspect and check the general operative condition of mechanical and hydraulic equipment at various locations.
- Travel to various locations throughout the valley for repairs and inspections.
- Utilize general machine shop equipment such as lathes, planers, shapers, and milling machines in connection with repairs.
Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of precision machine work and mechanical and hydraulic characteristics of equipment.
- Experience in the maintenance and repair of mechanical and hydraulic power plant equipment.
- High school education and several years of relevant experience.
