About the position

The Anticipated B-Tech Math Teacher for Grades 9-12 at Dallas Independent School District is responsible for providing students with engaging learning activities that promote their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The teacher will develop and implement lesson plans in accordance with district curriculum requirements, manage classroom behavior, and evaluate student progress while collaborating with other staff to support student needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide appropriate learning activities and experiences for students.
  • Assist and support the building principal in executing educational programs and policies.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet district curriculum requirements.
  • Prepare lessons accommodating different student learning styles.
  • Present subject matter according to established guidelines.
  • Establish efficient classroom management procedures and maintain standards of pupil behavior.
  • Evaluate and record student progress, reporting to parents as needed.
  • Teach the prescribed course of study for the subject area at the grade level.
  • Plan lessons leading to subject area objectives and prepare written lesson plans for substitutes.
  • Provide a variety of learning experiences using different media and methods.
  • Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other staff to resolve health, attitude, and learning problems.
  • Be available for counseling with students and parents before and after school.
  • Interpret educational programs to the community through activities like open house and PTA meetings.
  • Plan and coordinate the work of aides and student teachers when applicable.
  • Participate in developing evaluation systems in accordance with district guidelines.
  • Keep accurate records of student information and maintain required reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teacher certificate with required endorsements for subject and subject level assigned.
  • Demonstrated general knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to follow specific instructions with little or no previous experience.
  • Flexibility to cope with challenges in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Willingness to remain current with developments in the profession.

Benefits

  • Full-time position with a starting salary of $62,000 per year.
