Responsibilities

• Prepares food according to standard recipes and established food preparation procedures.
• Plans food production for the following days by preparing designated food items ahead of time.
• Stores food in designated areas, adhering to temperature requirements and food spoilage guidelines.
• Covers, labels, and dates food stored in refrigerators; discards outdated food items properly.
• Courteously serves food with accuracy and speed while adhering to portion control, safety, and appearance standards.
• Follows established sanitary techniques while preparing and serving food, and handling clean utensils.
• Maintains kitchen work area, equipment, and utensils in clean and orderly condition, including sweeping and mopping floors, washing tables, walls, and equipment as directed, and washing pots and pans according to established procedures.
• Observes and promotes safe work practices and environment.
• Performs job activities in a timely, efficient manner, and displays a willingness to work beyond end of contract work time as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Food Service Supervisor.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Knowledge of food preparation
• Working knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures
• Ability to follow food sanitation procedures
• Ability to learn prescribed food preparation methods and school cafeteria operations
• Ability to retrieve necessary menu items and recipe ingredients
• Ability to comprehend and follow instructions
• Ability to work independently and multi-task
