About the position

The Anticipated Long Term Substitute Elementary Art Teacher position is a temporary role designed to provide instructional support in the elementary art curriculum from January 6, 2025, through June 27, 2025. The teacher will be responsible for planning, preparing, and implementing art programs that align with the school system's educational philosophy and curriculum guidelines. This role also involves classroom management, student assessment, and collaboration with parents and staff to foster student growth.

Responsibilities

• Provides appropriate instruction within the prescribed curriculum.
• Establishes short and long range program goals consistent with the school system's philosophy.
• Employs instructional methods and resources conducive to meeting stated objectives.
• Serves as a resource person in various areas of the curriculum.
• Establishes a classroom environment conducive to learning and positive self-concept development.
• Develops rules for student behavior and maintains order in a fair manner.
• Organizes classroom facilities and instructional materials for optimal use.
• Assesses student progress, provides reports, and holds conferences with parents and staff.
• Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law and district policy.
• Assists in implementing school-wide policies governing student conduct.
• Attends required meetings such as faculty meetings and parent conferences.
• Serves on committees as assigned or voluntarily.
• Supervises student teachers and non-instructional personnel as agreed with the principal.
• Stays informed of current educational trends in the area of art education.
• Performs additional duties as needed during emergencies or unpredictable circumstances.

Requirements

• Appropriate NYS Certification.
