About the position

The Anticipated Long Term Substitute Elementary Art Teacher position at Caledonia-Mumford Central School District is a temporary role designed to provide instructional support in the art curriculum from January 6, 2025, through June 27, 2025. The teacher will be responsible for planning, preparing, and implementing art programs that align with the district's educational philosophy and curriculum standards, while fostering a positive learning environment for students.

Responsibilities

• Provides appropriate instruction within the prescribed curriculum.
• Establishes short and long range program goals consistent with the school system's philosophy.
• Employs instructional methods and resources conducive to meeting stated objectives.
• Serves as a resource person in various areas of the curriculum.
• Establishes a classroom environment conducive to learning and positive self-concept development.
• Develops appropriate rules for student behavior and maintains order in the classroom.
• Organizes classroom facilities and instructional materials for optimal use.
• Assesses student progress on a continuing basis and provides progress reports.
• Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law and district policy.
• Assists in implementing school-wide policies and rules governing student conduct.
• Attends required meetings such as faculty meetings and parent conferences.
• Serves on established committees as assigned or voluntarily.
• Supervises student teachers and non-instructional personnel by mutual consent with the principal.
• Strives to keep informed of current educational trends in the area of art education.
• Accepts and performs additional duties in cases of emergency or unusual circumstances.

Requirements

• Appropriate NYS Certification for teaching art at the elementary level.
