About the position

The AOG (Aircraft On Ground) Buyer at Western Global Airlines is a pivotal role responsible for the procurement of all aircraft-related parts, equipment, and supplies necessary to support the company's line aircraft operations globally. This position is essential in ensuring that the airline can maintain its operational efficiency and safety standards by sourcing the required parts in a timely manner. The AOG Buyer will be tasked with initiating purchase orders, expediting existing orders, and coordinating logistics to meet immediate requirements, particularly during AOG situations where aircraft are grounded due to maintenance needs. In this role, the AOG Buyer will engage in continuous follow-up with suppliers to ensure that delivery commitments are met. A strong emphasis will be placed on compliance with maintenance requisitions, aiming to minimize inventory investments while meeting time-sensitive requirements. The AOG Buyer will review all purchase requisitions for accuracy, content, and urgency, while also monitoring current stock levels to assess the necessity of requests. This involves determining responsible sources of supply and performing daily cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy. The AOG Buyer will also evaluate purchases to ensure compliance with all federal regulations and company policies regarding quality, documentation, and traceability. This includes expediting open purchase orders and negotiating prices with vendors to secure the best possible terms. The role requires a proactive approach to procuring components, equipment, and supplies, ensuring high reliability while maintaining fiduciary responsibility to the company. Additionally, the AOG Buyer will coordinate the acquisition of loaner parts from other airlines and oversee all material requirements during AOG situations, making this a critical position within the airline's operational framework.

Responsibilities

  • Procure all aircraft-related parts, equipment, and supplies to meet departmental requirements.
  • Source aircraft parts and initiate purchase orders.
  • Expedite existing orders and coordinate logistics to meet immediate requirements.
  • Continuously follow up to ensure supplier and delivery commitments are met.
  • Support and promote safety, security, and quality as a fundamental function of the role.
  • Ensure compliance with maintenance requisitions to minimize inventory investments and meet time requirements.
  • Review all purchase requisitions for content, accuracy, interchangeability, and urgency.
  • Monitor current stock levels and usages to determine the necessity of requests.
  • Determine responsible sources of supply and perform daily cycle counts.
  • Evaluate purchases for compliance with federal regulations and company policies regarding quality, documentation, and traceability.
  • Expedite open purchase orders and negotiate prices with vendors.
  • Procure components, equipment, and supplies with high reliability while maintaining fiduciary responsibility to the company.

Requirements

  • Previous airline/aviation experience.
  • College degree in Business or related field preferred.
  • Previous purchasing and/or inventory planning experience preferred.
  • Self-initiative and ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office.
