About the position

The Accountant position at CNA involves overseeing accounting and operations functions, ensuring compliance, reporting, and system management. The role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, with a focus on financial close activities, account reconciliation, and reporting for management. The Accountant will work collaboratively with various teams to maintain and update processing systems and resolve any issues that arise.

Responsibilities

• Perform accounting and financial close related activities, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliation.
• Apply accounting techniques to classify and record financial transactions.
• Identify compliance, tax, and regulatory issues and collaborate with internal resources to resolve them.
• Prepare financial and operational reports for management.
• Process and maintain documentation related to agent/agency contracts and commission payouts.
• Monitor, maintain, and update processing systems in collaboration with other teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in accounting, finance, or business.
• Minimum of three years of related experience.
• General knowledge of corporate accounting/finance and tax practices.
• Knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills to work with staff at all levels.
• Proficient in business-related software systems and applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
• Demonstrates conceptual thinking ability and independence.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
