About the position

The Laboratory Assistant III at Glens Falls Hospital is responsible for performing a variety of laboratory duties to ensure high service levels for both internal and external customers. This role requires proficiency in laboratory customer service, phlebotomy, and specimen processing, contributing to the hospital's mission of providing exceptional, affordable, and patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory duties to provide appropriate service levels to customers.
• Demonstrate proficiency in laboratory customer service, phlebotomy, and specimen processing.
• Communicate effectively with patients, customers, providers, coworkers, and vendors.
• Utilize the Laboratory Information System for basic ordering and inquiry functions.
• Recognize and solve basic problems related to responsibilities and refer issues to the department supervisor.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Experience in a Healthcare/Customer Service Environment or similar setting preferred.
• Proficient in keyboarding and computer applications.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.

Nice-to-haves

• Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
• Ability to work under stressful situations and withstand the sight of blood.
• Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
