About the position

The IT Business Operations Analyst II at Apache Corporation will be a key member of the Information Technology team based in Houston, Texas. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about configuration management and data integrity within IT operations. The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain and reconcile configuration item (CI) attributes, ensuring that all data discrepancies are addressed promptly. The analyst will serve as a liaison between various IT groups, raising awareness and educating stakeholders about the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) processes. This includes creating and maintaining comprehensive process documentation and producing configuration status account reports for infrastructure teams involved in operational tasks. In addition to these responsibilities, the IT Business Operations Analyst II will conduct configuration audit checks to ensure that physical IT data aligns with the CMDB. This role will also involve initiating change workflow processes as necessary to update data reconciliation processes. The analyst will collaborate with other process owners to develop and ensure seamless integration and handoff points, while also consulting with business analysts to understand application requirements. This includes defining architectural components that meet those requirements and assessing how ongoing architectural changes will impact CMDB dependencies. The successful candidate will be familiar with the CMDB activity cycle and possess knowledge of installed or soon-to-be-installed dependency mapping solutions. This position requires strong communication skills to report regularly on the performance and metrics of the program to senior management and stakeholders. The analyst will also need to demonstrate leadership skills to galvanize IT domains such as networking, storage, or application management, ensuring that all teams work towards a common goal. Overall, this role is crucial for maintaining the integrity and effectiveness of Apache's IT operations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain configuration item (CI) attributes and reconcile discrepancies in data.
  • Liaison with other IT groups to raise awareness, educate, and gain support of CMDB processes.
  • Create and maintain process documentation.
  • Produce configuration status account reports for infrastructure teams for operation tasks.
  • Conduct configuration audit checks to reconcile physical IT data with CMDB and initiate change workflow processes as needed.
  • Work with other process owners to develop and ensure tight integration and handoff points.
  • Interact and consult with appropriate business analysts to understand application requirements.
  • Define architectural components to meet application requirements and assess ongoing architectural changes affecting CMDB dependencies.
  • Establish protocols for communicating with intersecting process owners/managers to ensure CMDB data achieves its goals.
  • Familiarity with the CMDB activity cycle and knowledge of installed or soon-to-be-installed dependency mapping solutions.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with Information Technology Infrastructure Library changes and configuration management processes.
  • Strong process improvement experience and experience developing metrics and quantifying value returned.
  • Possess team leadership skills to galvanize IT domains (such as networking, storage, or application management).
  • Strong communication skills for regular reporting on performance and metrics to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Technical background in one or more areas of configuration management.
  • Experience in database development and understanding of data structures, data schemas, and data modeling.
  • Cross-domain experience with ancillary applications (such as security) for a broad understanding of critical intersections of the CMDB.
  • Experience with cost justification of IT operation projects.
  • Experience with budgeting, project planning, and other relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or Information Technology.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) is nice to have.
