About the position

The Apartment Building Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and overall upkeep of a residential property, ensuring a welcoming and safe environment for residents and visitors. This role involves various maintenance tasks, resident interaction, and safety monitoring to enhance the living experience within the building.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain common areas, including lobbies, hallways, stairwells, and laundry rooms.
• Empty trash bins and dispose of waste properly.
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors regularly.
• Conduct regular inspections of the building's exterior and interior for cleanliness and maintenance needs.
• Report maintenance issues to the building manager or maintenance team promptly.
• Assist with minor repairs and upkeep tasks as directed.
• Greet residents and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
• Address resident concerns or requests and escalate to management as necessary.
• Assist with move-in and move-out procedures, including cleaning and preparing units.
• Monitor building security and report any suspicious activity.
• Ensure that all fire exits and emergency equipment are accessible and functional.
• Assist in maintaining a safe environment for residents and staff.
• Assist with snow removal and outdoor maintenance as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the building manager.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in building maintenance or janitorial services is a plus.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving objects.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness.
• Good communication skills and the ability to interact positively with residents and staff.
