About the position

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Apartment Maintenance Service Technician (M3) to join our team in Silver Spring, MD. In this full-time role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring that the physical assets of our community meet both company standards and applicable laws. Your responsibilities will include diagnosing problems and making repairs across various areas such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, exterior structure, tiling, masonry, and appliances. As a Service Technician, you will be expected to address, follow up, and document service requests efficiently. You will maintain an inventory of adequate supplies and perform preventive maintenance on fan coil and convector HVAC units. Additionally, you will complete scheduled preventive maintenance inspections and participate in an on-call rotation as required. Your role will also involve making repairs to grounds and drainage, ensuring that all work and documentation comply with internal quality control standards. You will maintain a personal supply of tools as designated by SMC's Tool Checklist and address emergency maintenance as needed. Other duties may be assigned by your manager or supervisor, and you will be encouraged to contribute to community and company engagement efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Address, follow up and document service requests
  • Maintain an inventory of adequate supplies
  • Perform preventive maintenance on fan coil and convector HVAC unit
  • Complete additional preventive maintenance inspections as scheduled
  • Participate in on-call rotation as scheduled
  • Make repairs to grounds and drainage

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in maintenance related field(s)
  • Successful completion of Basic Electric class offered at SMC internal training facility
  • Successful completion of all other basic maintenance classes offered internally and all on-the-job training within one year of hire date
