About the position

The Apartment Maintenance Technician II position is a full-time role based in Seattle, WA, offering a pay range of $27 to $30 per hour. This position is essential for maintaining the quality and functionality of apartment facilities, ensuring that all maintenance tasks are performed efficiently and effectively. The technician will work Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, engaging in a variety of maintenance activities that include routine service, preventative maintenance, and repairs across the apartment complex. This role is temporary, with the potential for temp-to-hire opportunities, allowing for a pathway to permanent employment based on performance and company needs. The technician will be responsible for performing daily service tasks, which include maintenance in individual units, common areas, and the overall grounds of the apartment complex. This includes prep work and painting, conducting move-in inspections, and ensuring that all safety protocols are followed. The technician will also be involved in repairs related to roofing, plumbing, electrical systems, appliances, and carpentry. Additionally, the role requires tracking the key/lock system and changing locks as necessary, as well as installing new appliances such as dishwashers, ranges, and refrigerators. Providing courteous services to tenants, such as delivering packages and maintaining the pool/spa area, is also part of the job responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in apartment maintenance or related fields, with at least two years of experience preferred. They should possess a valid driver's license, proof of US citizenship, and be able to pass a background check. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, push and pull up to 100 lbs, climb stairs and ladders, and perform overhead painting tasks. The technician must demonstrate the ability to understand and follow both verbal and written instructions, ensuring that all maintenance tasks are completed to the highest standards.

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily service, routine and preventative maintenance in units and common areas.
  • Prepares move-in inspection reports with new and vacating residents.
  • Conducts self-safety inspections around the complex and with co-workers.
  • Repairs roof, plumbing, electrical systems, appliances, and carpentry for the complex.
  • Tracks key/lock system and changes locks as needed.
  • Installs new appliances such as dishwashers, ranges, and refrigerators.
  • Provides courtesy services for tenants, such as delivering packages and routine maintenance for pool/spa.
  • Repairs and repaints interior and exterior of common areas as needed.

Requirements

  • 2+ years' experience in apartment maintenance or related experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
  • Valid proof of US Citizenship.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs daily.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders and reach for supplies for overhead painting.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and carry out both verbal and written instructions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in appliance troubleshooting.
