About the position

The Apartment Maintenance Technician at MAA plays a crucial role in ensuring that apartment homes and property facilities are well-maintained and in good working order. This position is ideal for individuals who take pride in their work and possess strong problem-solving skills. The technician will be responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs, which include preparing apartments for new residents, diagnosing and troubleshooting issues with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) units, as well as repairing electrical appliances, outlets, light fixtures, plumbing, carpentry, and locks. The technician will also follow a planned preventative maintenance schedule and will be expected to follow up with residents after repairs are completed to ensure satisfaction. In addition to technical skills, the Apartment Maintenance Technician will be part of a dynamic team that values service excellence and a people-first approach. Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs on apartment homes and property facilities.
  • Prepare apartments for move-in.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC units.
  • Repair electrical appliances, outlets, and light fixtures.
  • Conduct plumbing repairs and carpentry work.
  • Maintain and repair locks and other hardware.
  • Follow a planned preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Follow up with residents after repairs are completed.

Requirements

  • One to three years of experience in multifamily property management, facility maintenance, and/or mechanical repair.
  • HVAC experience required.
  • EPA Type II or EPA Universal certification required at hire or within 90 days of start date.
  • Valid driver's license from the state of residence.
