About the position

The APC Advisory Consultant Engineer role at AspenTech involves leveraging deep manufacturing and business process knowledge to assist clients in transforming their operations through automation and IT solutions. The position requires expertise in the Refinery, Olefins, Polymer, or Specialty Chemicals process industries, and focuses on leading projects that enhance multivariable process control and optimization. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams, providing technical leadership and ensuring effective knowledge transfer to junior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Review process flow diagrams and P&IDs, and understand process operation and leading process discussions.
  • Lead effectively in designing testing and commissioning APC applications and execute all phases of a control project.
  • Provide advisory supervision to multiple project teams executing APC projects.
  • Understand process issues and their impact on multivariable control design.
  • Design control strategies and configure multivariable control systems on multiple processes.
  • Complete database or schematic changes, implementing complex calculations for data analysis.
  • Set up and execute controller simulation for large scope problems.
  • Act as a technical lead engineer on various scale projects and discuss with customers.
  • Assist in controller interface database and configuration.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering; MS or PhD preferred.
  • 15+ years' experience in Multivariable Process Control and Optimization.
  • Demonstrable communication and coaching skills.
  • Competence in multiple process units in Refining, Olefins, or Polymer processes.
  • Experience in an Operating Company or APC Consulting Company is a plus.
  • Understanding of data collection and manipulation of data files and collections lists.
  • Proficiency in executing data analysis for large scope problems.
  • Deep knowledge of multivariable control concepts, linear programming, and LP cost calculations.
  • Knowledge of closed loop control concepts (computer, DCS, PID control, MVC tuning concept).
  • Willingness to travel at least 50% of the time.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficient in Aspen on-line and off-line tools.
  • Exposure to AspenTech APC products.
  • Fluency in any other language.
