About the position

The APP Development Manager will oversee the delivery of WSET's global APP development strategy across the Americas. This role focuses on enhancing the provision of WSET qualifications through effective onboarding, support, and brand awareness initiatives. The manager will work closely with APPs to ensure high educational standards and customer service, while also fostering partnerships within the industry to expand opportunities for course providers and candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a market and sector development strategy for the APP network.
  • Improve customer experience and engagement across the APP network.
  • Enhance educational and operational standards within the APP network.
  • Increase conversion rates between qualification levels and categories.
  • Broaden the range of WSET qualifications offered across the network.
  • Increase WSET and APP presence at local and national events.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service and Governance teams to implement new processes.
  • Identify and develop partnerships with key industry organizations.
  • Field and screen inquiries from potential APP applicants and support their onboarding process.
  • Identify and implement training requirements and CPD needs across the APP network.
  • Attend APP activities to ensure quality and integrity are maintained.
  • Support the Governance team in investigations related to WSET qualifications.
  • Oversee the development of the global APP onboarding process.
  • Collaborate with the Global Marketing team on marketing initiatives.
  • Analyze APP activity and spending patterns to support business decisions.
  • Produce annual reviews of APP performance and projections for future years.
  • Represent APP Development on inter-departmental projects as required.
  • Plan and execute specific projects to support the APP Development team.

Requirements

  • Eligibility to work across all states in the USA and a valid passport for international travel.
  • Strong communication skills to express ideas effectively and foster trust.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing people and/or teams.
  • Ability to lead a team and support training and development needs.
  • Dynamic and proactive approach to challenges.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in a team environment.
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Customer-focused mindset prioritizing APP needs.

  • Passion for the drinks industry, particularly wine, spirits, sake, and beer.
  • WSET Level 3 or equivalent, with experience in education/teaching.

Nice-to-haves

  • WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wine.
  • WSET Level 2 in a second/third subject category.
  • Educational background in Business or Education.
  • Fluency in a second language (Spanish, Portuguese, French).
