About the position

The APP Infectious Disease Supervisor at the University of Kentucky Health Care (UKHC) is responsible for overseeing the management of patients with infectious diseases, collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team. This role involves coordinating care from admission to discharge, ensuring quality and safe care, and providing outpatient coordination. The supervisor is expected to demonstrate advanced medical and nursing knowledge, clinical competency, and effective communication skills while fostering professional development within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the critical care aspects of assigned patients from admission to transfer.
  • Coordinate care throughout the patient's admission to discharge.
  • Provide outpatient and ambulatory coordination of care.
  • Demonstrate advanced medical and nursing knowledge and clinical competency.
  • Ensure timely and compliant documentation of patient care.
  • Take responsibility for ongoing professional development and competency validation.
  • Supervise and mentor other Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) within the division.

Requirements

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) for Nurse Practitioners or Bachelor of Science for Physician Assistants.
  • At least 1 year of related experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) with appropriate certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience with clinical education and research.
