About the position

Velocity Urgent Care, in partnership with Sentara, is seeking an experienced full-time Advanced Practice Provider (APP), either a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA), to join their team in South Boston, VA. This position is ideal for candidates with a minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an urgent, immediate, or emergency care setting. The APP will be an integral part of a fast-paced, growing, and supportive team environment, contributing to the mission of improving health every day. As an APP at Velocity Urgent Care, you will have the opportunity to work flexible shifts, with only 14 to 16 shifts required per month. Depending on the day of the week, shifts can be 8 or 12 hours long. The role offers productivity bonuses, a comprehensive benefits and retirement package, malpractice and tail coverage, and a Continuing Medical Education (CME) allowance. Additionally, there are programs for student loan reimbursement and eligibility for student loan forgiveness. It is essential that candidates are DOT certified before starting the position. Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality urgent care services to patients in a fast-paced environment.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop appropriate treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records and documentation.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to clinical protocols.
  • Educate patients and their families on health management and preventive care.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a practicing provider in an urgent, immediate, or emergency care setting.
  • Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
  • Must be DOT certified before starting the position.
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Bilingual skills to communicate with a diverse patient population.
