About the position

Atrium Health is seeking an experienced and dynamic Critical Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Virtual Critical Care Team. This unique opportunity allows you to work tele-critically from home, managing medical and surgical ICU patients. As an Advanced Practice Provider (APP), you will be encouraged to practice at the top of your license, which includes obtaining medical histories, conducting physical exams, documenting findings, and preparing comprehensive plans of care in a timely manner. You will also be responsible for ordering medications and appropriate tests or procedures as needed. The position involves attending, participating in, and contributing to group and practice meetings, as well as the development of policies and procedures and quality improvement initiatives. The shifts for this role are 9 hours in duration and will include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, with shifts rotated equally among staff members. This role is a PRN position, requiring a minimum of 30 shifts per year, and offers a salary guarantee with performance incentives, along with employer-paid benefits and a Continuing Medical Education (CME) allowance. Our current team consists of 30 APPs, 60 physicians, 42 critical care RNs, 6 critical care respiratory therapists, and 3 critical care pharmacists. The virtual critical care program provides 24/7 coverage via a shift-based model to 16 different facilities across North Carolina and Georgia. Critical care services are delivered using two-way audio-video communication, real-time bedside waveform monitors, and an integrated Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system for reviewing documentation, labs, vitals, and diagnostics. At Atrium Health, you will be welcomed into an inclusive culture that celebrates and respects the contributions of a diverse team. We value your voice, reward your passion for advancing medicine, and provide the resources and support you need to thrive both personally and professionally.
