About the position

The Apple Health Visual Communications and UX Designer role focuses on developing marketing, promotional, and reporting communications for Apple Health and COFA Islander Health Care programs. The position requires expertise in web accessibility and aims to create effective communication materials that comply with federal and state standards. The role is primarily remote, with occasional onsite work based on operational needs.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and implement the marketing communications and user experience solutions program for Apple Health and COFA Islander Health Care programs.
• Develop and maintain Apple Health brand standards.
• Collaborate with communications and program staff to design, write, and edit communication products that follow agency brand standards.
• Determine the most effective way of getting the agency's message across in print and electronic media.
• Establish and maintain production schedules and editorial calendar for publications and printing.
• Ensure graphic and web products comply with guidelines for Americans with Disabilities Act and Title VI, and Section 508 web accessibility requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in graphic design, English, communications, journalism, humanities, public relations, visual arts, fine arts, or related field and three years of professional experience in graphic design.
• Two years of design school or college-level design training and five years of professional experience in graphic design.
• Seven years of professional experience in graphic design.
• Demonstrated knowledge of visual design methods and techniques, including use of Pantone Matching System, type, illustration, photography, and layout techniques.
• Knowledge of web accessibility principles and experience applying them to products.

Nice-to-haves

• Lived experience with state-funded Apple Health or behavioral health programs.
• Professional communications experience in languages such as Cambodian, Chinese, Korean, Laotian, Russian, Somali, Spanish, or Vietnamese.
• Familiarity with social media and video production techniques.
• Experience editing documents using plain language principles.
