About the position

The Application Analyst role at Brooks Rehabilitation involves analyzing and implementing hospital computer systems and modifications to existing systems to achieve project objectives efficiently. Responsibilities

  • Evaluate that design of new systems or modifications to existing systems complies with established standards for data accuracy, integrity, confidentiality, and security.
  • Determine and develop alternative procedures and business processes to facilitate system functionality.
  • Ensure that application systems master files and code tables are maintained in accordance with best practices.
  • Ensure new systems or modifications comply with data governance policies.
  • Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems as needed for Brooks requirements.
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
  • Research and analyze reported system problems and initiate appropriate action and documentation.
  • Submit completed requests for system enhancements with documentation to vendor when appropriate.
  • Coordinate and test the implementation of new releases, software packages, and fixes with user departments using a controlled test environment.
  • Develop alternative procedures to facilitate system functionality and educate the user on same.
  • Coordinate system changes or requests to meet deadlines to ensure compliance for auditors and federal & state regulatory requirements.
  • Complete estimates and work plans independently as appropriate for design, development, implementation, and rollout tasks.
  • Communicate effective updates and work plans as needed.
  • Design & develop reports as requested.
  • Maintain a record of software incidents for use in analysis and interaction with the vendor.
  • Utilize software tools to analyze, design, and develop clinical systems and databases.
  • Function as a liaison between the user departments, clinics, management, and external customers as well as vendor support to ensure adequate understanding by all parties.
  • Respond to system malfunctions after normal working hours as needed.
  • Educate super users on system functionality and enhancements as needed.
  • Participate in self-instruction methods, in-house training, and outside training opportunities as available.
  • Provide user support for software programs, testing the functionality of application services, and evaluating the functional requirements of the applications.
  • Provide assistance related to the installation, operation, and maintenance of computer software application programs.
  • Monitor the system, improve current processes, assessing problems to identify specific areas of concern the organization needs to address.
  • Leverage technology to facilitate a business strategy and improve performance.
  • Brainstorm software solutions and assess their effectiveness and efficiency in solving an organization's challenges and problems.
  • Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve business systems issues.
  • Document and inform the user of the effect of new releases, software packages, and fixes prior to implementation.
  • Create and maintain Knowledge Base articles for end user support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree emphasizing math, business, or computer science with 4 years system support and analysis experience, or an Associate's Degree in Computer Science with 4 years health-care systems experience, or 6 years health-care systems experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of software solutions and ability to analyze.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and analyze system problems and provide solutions.
  • Technical, critical thinking, and analytical skills in translating customer requests to software solutions.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a moderately stressful environment and meet required deadlines while performing multiple tasks independently.
  • Ability to record and deliver information, explain procedures, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all employees, organizational, and patient information.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
