About the position

The Application Analyst role within Amazon's Worldwide Grocery Stores Data and Analytics organization focuses on building Operational Applications and Business Intelligence solutions. This position involves collaborating with Product Managers and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical specifications, enhancing user experience, and developing applications using a low-code platform. The role requires a strong understanding of the grocery business and relevant technologies, as well as the ability to analyze data and design data models to support applications and analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, configure, enhance, maintain, and integrate systems.
  • Build custom applications on the application stack using vendor toolset or internal Amazon tools.
  • Proactively improve knowledge about Amazon's Grocery business and relevant technologies.
  • Understand functional requirements and improve end user experience for supported applications.
  • Employ modeling and flowcharting techniques to communicate technical solutions effectively.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and stakeholders to define deliverables and timing.
  • Build mockups and prototypes of applications or reports with Product Managers.
  • Analyze data and design data models to support Applications and Analytics.
  • Build ETL pipelines using AWS Glue and in-house platforms.
  • Provide Production support rotation for applications.
  • Provide Technical Support for stakeholders and training to other teams.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • Proficiency in Data Engineering.
  • Proficiency in Database Design.
  • Advanced SQL skills including tuning for performance.
  • Basic S3 management and CLI scripting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with other package/configuration software (SAP, PeopleSoft, WorkDay, Salesforce).
  • Grocery/Retail experience.
  • Agile experience.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
