About the position

The Application and Business Development Engineer at HORIBA Scientific will play a crucial role in collaborating with sales and engineering teams to identify customer requirements for scientific instrumentation. This position involves working with advanced technologies used to measure, analyze, and characterize particles within fluids. The engineer will be responsible for planning and modifying product configurations for various applications, including static and dynamic light scattering, dynamic image analysis, multi-spectrum nanoparticle tracking analysis, and surface area analysis. In addition to technical responsibilities, the engineer will provide guidance to non-technical sales and marketing team members, recommending solutions that meet customer needs while promoting HORIBA's products. This role also includes preparing and delivering product demonstrations and presentations at conferences, company events, and customer sites. The engineer will be tasked with preparing and updating installation and training materials for product users, as well as conducting training sessions for customers and internal staff. The position requires performing installation qualification, operational qualification, and performance qualification validation of products sold and modified for customers. The engineer will evaluate and update qualification procedures to enhance instrument efficacy, install products at customer sites, and conduct product testing and quality assurance on installed products. Additionally, the engineer will provide product application support in the laboratory and develop new applications to support emerging business directions. Researching industry trends and competitors will also be a key responsibility, allowing the engineer to recommend product and business development opportunities. This position entails approximately 65% travel within the U.S. and Canada.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
  • 24 months of experience in the job offered.
