About the position

The Application and Cloud Migration Specialist at Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) plays a crucial role in providing administrative and technical support for application and cloud implementation and integration services. This position focuses on supporting the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) by ensuring optimal performance of DOT-specific systems, utilizing both cloud and on-premises environments. The specialist will work with various technologies, including Linux and Windows servers, MS Active Directory, and Azure environments, to enhance the efficiency of transportation services across Minnesota.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and technical support for application and cloud implementation and integration services.
• Ensure optimal performance of DOT-specific systems supported by the Database and Middleware teams.
• Manage and support applications and projects in both cloud and on-premises environments.
• Utilize Linux and Windows servers, MS Active Directory, and Azure environments for system management.
• Collaborate with different teams within MNIT DOT to facilitate effective service delivery.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of IT-related experience.
• Experience installing and configuring server-based solutions, both cloud-based and on-premises.
• Proficient in operating systems administration, specifically RedHat Enterprise Linux 7 and newer, and Windows Server 2016, 2019 and newer.
• Experience with MS Active Directory administration and Azure Entra Administration.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for mutual understanding.
• Customer service skills including active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with FTP servers and Azure DevOps.
• Knowledge of MS SQL and Oracle database connectivity.
• Experience with data management including replication, encryption, backup and restore, and database administration.
• Familiarity with network management concepts and implementing packaged and open-source software.
• Programming skills in Perl, C, CGI, HTML, XML, BASH, Python, and Java.
• Working knowledge of WS_FTP, encryption, and SSL.
• Experience supporting the MS Power Platform Data Gateway.
