About the position

The CNC Programmer (Application Engineer) at Mueller Water Products is a pivotal role within the Manufacturing Engineering team, responsible for developing and implementing machining processes across various areas of the organization. This position requires a hands-on approach, where the engineer will engage in writing new CNC programs, creating essential process documentation, and producing parts at the machine to facilitate Quality First Article approvals. The role also involves training operators and meticulously documenting completion timelines to ensure efficiency and quality in production. In this active role, the CNC Programmer will primarily focus on machining process prove-outs as per programming lists associated with diverse projects throughout the facility. This includes updating process documentation to maintain accurate setups, programs, and tooling information readily available for Operations. The engineer will also participate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of operational issues, ensuring that any challenges are addressed promptly and effectively. A commitment to delivering exceptional results is crucial, as the engineer will be expected to communicate constructively and interact with all levels of the organization to facilitate action and drive improvements. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement machining processes throughout the different areas of Mueller Water Products.
  • Write new CNC programs and develop necessary process documentation.
  • Produce parts at the machine to facilitate Quality First Article approvals.
  • Train operators on new and existing machining processes.
  • Update appropriate process documentation to ensure setups, programs, and tooling information is accurate and available for Operations.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of operations issues as assigned.
  • Communicate and interact constructively with all levels of the organization to facilitate action and drive improvements.
  • Work efficiently and effectively with all peer groups and other teams throughout the organization.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in an Engineering-related discipline is required.
  • 1-4 years' experience in a manufacturing environment involving high speed machining and automation is highly preferred.
  • 2 plus years' experience related to the application of CNC programming, cutting tools, and part work holding.
  • 2 plus years' experience programming 'by hand' various brands of lathes.
  • Experience with Okuma and DMG Mori equipment is preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD preferred.
  • Experience with CAM software highly preferred.
