About the position

The CNC Programmer (Application Engineer) at Mueller Water Products is a pivotal role within the Manufacturing Engineering team, responsible for developing and implementing machining processes across various areas of the organization. This position requires a hands-on approach, where the engineer will engage directly with the machinery and processes to ensure optimal performance and quality. The role encompasses a variety of tasks, including writing new CNC programs, creating and updating process documentation, and producing parts to facilitate Quality First Article approvals. The engineer will also be responsible for training operators on both new and existing machining processes, ensuring that all team members are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to operate effectively. In addition to programming and documentation, the CNC Programmer will actively participate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of operational issues. This involves working collaboratively with other teams and departments to identify problems and implement solutions that enhance productivity and efficiency. The engineer is expected to communicate constructively with all levels of the organization, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork. Responsibilities

  • Machining process prove-outs per programming lists associated with various projects throughout the facility.
  • Updating appropriate process documentation to ensure setups, programs, and tooling information is accurate and available for Operations.
  • Active participation in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of operations issues as assigned.
  • Training Operations on new and existing machining processes.
  • Communicating and interacting constructively with all levels of the organization to facilitate action and drive improvements.
  • Working efficiently and effectively with all peer groups and other teams throughout the organization.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in an Engineering-related discipline is required.
  • 1-4 years' experience in a manufacturing environment involving high speed machining and automation is highly preferred.
  • 2 plus years' experience related to the application of CNC programming, cutting tools, and part work holding.
  • 2 plus years' experience programming 'by hand' various brands of lathes.
  • Experience with Okuma and DMG Mori equipment is preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD preferred.
  • Experience with CAM software highly preferred.
