About the position

As a Senior Engineer in Application Design at Schneider Electric, you will play a pivotal role in conceptualizing system architecture using EcoStruxure Control Expert (formerly known as Unity Pro) for PLC logic applications. Your primary responsibility will be to develop Control Philosophy and Sequence of Operations (SOO) documents that are essential for controlling building process automation (BMS) at customer data centers. This position will challenge you to analyze complex situations where the evaluation of intangible factors is necessary, requiring you to exercise independent judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to obtain effective solutions and results. You will also provide engineering support or leadership for various projects, ensuring that all aspects of the design and implementation meet the high standards expected by Schneider Electric. In this role, you will collaborate closely with consultants, end-users, contractors, and internal/external design teams, leveraging your advanced communication skills to facilitate effective teamwork. You will be expected to support and assist other engineers, functioning as a technical lead when necessary. Your advanced knowledge of HVAC systems, including air and water processes, will be crucial as you identify needs from prerequisite documents such as control drawings and electrical designs. You will manage the integration of PLCs with various third-party systems, ensuring seamless operation across all components of the building management system. Your commitment to delivering high-quality solutions will be essential as you navigate the complexities of project playbooks and commissioning plans. You will be responsible for troubleshooting PLC code and developing commissioning and test scripts, ensuring that all systems operate efficiently and effectively. Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize system architecture using EcoStruxure Control Expert for PLC logic applications.
  • Develop Control Philosophy and Sequence of Operations (SOO) documents for building process automation at customer data centers.
  • Analyze complex situations requiring evaluation of intangible factors to provide effective solutions.
  • Exercise independent judgment in selecting methods and techniques for project execution.
  • Provide engineering support or leadership for various projects.
  • Collaborate with consultants, end-users, contractors, and internal/external design teams.
  • Support and assist other engineers, functioning as a technical lead when necessary.
  • Manage integration of PLCs with various third-party systems.
  • Troubleshoot PLC code and develop commissioning and test scripts.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and commissioning BMS systems and/or PLC/Process Automation applications, especially with Schneider Electric products.
  • Project experience in functional and detailed specifications, systems development, code generation, implementation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Experience writing industrial control applications.
  • Familiarity with industry standard communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC UA, Modbus TCP/IP, and Ethernet IP, BACnet.
  • Experience integrating devices from multiple vendors into a packaged solution.
  • Knowledgeable in computer networking architectures, topologies, and hardware.
  • Knowledgeable in computer programming languages (VB, C#, C++).
