About the position

The Application Developer/Analyst position at the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) involves providing IT services to support the department's functional programs and the Disability Services Agencies (DSA). The role focuses on consulting, designing, developing, and maintaining applications to meet user requirements, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and policies. The position is integral to achieving the strategic goals of DARS and requires collaboration with the DSA IT Lead Developer.

Responsibilities

• Consult, design, develop, and maintain applications to meet user requirements.
• Provide technology services to the functional programs of DARS and DSA.
• Ensure compliance with Virginia Information Technology Agency (VITA) standards and other stakeholders' guidelines.
• Assist the DSA IT Lead Developer with managing applications and systems development activities.
• Establish current and long-range objectives, plans, and policies for application development.

Requirements

• Training in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, VB.NET, ASP.NET Web forms, SQL Server Database, and TSQL.
• Knowledge of Modern Programming Techniques and Tools.
• Experience with Accessibility Standards (e.g., 508 and WCAG) and tools (e.g., JAWS).
• Experience with SDLC and Reporting tools.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Document Imaging (e.g., Docfinity).
• Experience with Power Shell.
• Experience with Software vulnerability analysis.
• Experience with SharePoint and Wireframe tools (e.g., Balsamiq).
• Experience with DevOps and cloud solutions (AWS, Azure).
