About the position

The Application Developer role at QBE is focused on delivering technical solutions that meet the business requirements of key stakeholders. This hybrid position involves analyzing business needs, developing applications, conducting user acceptance testing, and troubleshooting to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the developed programs. The developer will work with various technologies including Visual Studio, TFS, C#, .Net, and Oracle, and will be responsible for creating enhancements, features, and bug fixes for applications used by policyholders, agents, and internal staff.

Responsibilities

• Deliver effective applications for business use by analyzing business requirements and consulting with key stakeholders.
• Build applications by translating specifications into programming language and forecasting solutions to anticipated problems.
• Participate in testing of functionality and analyzing sample data-sets to ensure accuracy of program output.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders by participating in design and code reviews and escalating issues to troubleshoot errors.
• Write detailed documentation for the operation of programs to facilitate user understanding of application functioning.
• Contribute to a positive work environment by demonstrating cultural expectations and influencing others.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• 3 years relevant experience in application development.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in the insurance industry.
• Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
• Working knowledge of .NET technologies and object relational mapping (ORMs).
• Ability to clearly convey information to internal and external stakeholders.
