About the position

The Senior Developer serves as a domain technical expert and leader in technology, focusing on development responsibilities across multiple applications. This role involves mentoring junior developers and designing technical solutions while primarily engaging in development activities throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Responsibilities

• Serve as a domain technical expert and leader in technology.
• Mentor Developer I and Developer II team members.
• Design technical solutions for various applications.
• Collaborate with business analysts and customers to understand requirements.
• Apply secure programming techniques using standards and best practices.
• Comment code for peers and testers.
• Perform unit testing, configuration management, source code control, deployment, and release management.
• Provide operational support services, including bug fixes and major enhancements.
• Participate in planning efforts for application replacement and modernization as needed.
• Collaborate across a matrix management environment with other developers and client department staff.

Requirements

• Four years of programming experience in PowerBuilder with PFC (PowerBuilder Foundation Class) libraries.
• Experience with Agile teams and development methods.
• Experience with Informix or Oracle database and database tools.
• Experience with PowerBuilder source control tools, such as Microsoft VSS.
• Ability to read, understand, and document program code to support DECORUM projects.
• Troubleshooting experience against existing applications.
• Experience in routine ticket resolving.
• Strong analytical skills in programming and business logic.
• Ability to present complicated business rules clearly to third-party vendors and contractors.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with programming languages other than PowerBuilder, such as 4GL and PHP.
• Skills in top-down testing through application interfaces.
