About the position

As an Application Developer II, you will be responsible for designing and developing new software applications and enhancing existing ones in accordance with the university's software development lifecycle. This role involves planning the evolution of web-based solutions, leading development and testing efforts, and determining design methodologies for new applications. You will also provide support for IT-related university initiatives and serve as an expert in enterprise applications development.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new software applications and enhancements to existing applications.
• Plan the continuous evolution of in-house, web-based solutions.
• Lead the development, testing, and implementation of software solutions.
• Define technical solution objectives through analysis of user requirements.
• Write test plans and perform or oversee functional testing for upgrades.
• Support all IS software updates and provide second-tier support for application issues.
• Mentor and train new team members.

Requirements

• B.S. in computer science, information systems, or a closely related discipline.
• Experience with server-side development using Java and SQL.
• Experience with front-end web development.
• Strong time management, analytical, conceptual, and technical skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Related professional experience in a higher education setting using Banner, Blackboard, and uPortal.
• Experience with Groovy/Grails, Linux, Apache Tomcat, Spring, Hudson/Jenkins.
