About the position

The Application Developer II is responsible for the programming, design, testing, implementation, and support of database applications for the credit union's host systems. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders to enhance processes that integrate with the host system, analyzing product offerings, identifying gaps, and delivering solutions that meet business needs. A solid understanding of the credit union's products and services is essential from a technical perspective.

Responsibilities

  • Review, define, design, program and implement solutions for core systems using third and fourth generation programming languages.
  • Work with other technical staff and business partners to understand platforms, integration points (APIs, services) and database structures.
  • Perform object-oriented and structured programming, depending on business need.
  • Research, analyze, design, document, and create test plans and prototype host applications and solutions that integrate with third-party systems.
  • Analyze user requirements and prepare technical design specifications to address those requirements.
  • Evaluate and analyze data related to application development in order to improve performance.
  • Conduct database design, maintenance, and tuning to ensure optimal and reliable performance.
  • Prepare test scenarios and evaluate test results to validate accuracy of programs and procedures.
  • Examine the company's goals and review current technology to envision system features and functionality and recommend, review, define, design, program, and implement solutions.
  • Troubleshoot core system errors/issues and fix or recommend solutions for a fix.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws appropriate to the position.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems or Computer Science or equivalent work experience is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in software analysis, design, programming, maintenance, technical troubleshooting, and documentation is required.
  • Enterprise experience working with multi-tier software architecture, object-oriented design, requirements gathering, Agile and Waterfall SDLC.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing, troubleshooting, and implementing software code that includes XML, SQL, class methods, COBOL, TAL, TACL, Caché ObjectScript.
  • Strong leadership skills are preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge in multiple programming languages is required.

  • Previous experience within the financial industry is desired.
