About the position

The Application Developer II at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) plays a crucial role in providing functional and technical support throughout the application life cycle management framework for legacy applications. This position is integral to the software development life cycle for NextGen cloud implementations, contributing to a digital transformation that will enhance corporate applications across various departments. The role involves participating in application maintenance projects, acting as a quality assurance analyst, and providing support for production issues, all while adhering to TNC's values of diversity and respect for communities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide functional and technical support for legacy applications throughout the application life cycle management framework.
  • Participate in all aspects of the software development life cycle for NextGen cloud implementations.
  • Act as a team member on technology application maintenance projects related to upgrades, conversions, and modifications.
  • Act as a quality assurance analyst to validate work before release to production in all project phases.
  • Design and develop new technology systems and solutions according to system requirements and best practices.
  • Provide support for production problems as assigned.
  • Attend training classes to maintain knowledge of current technology and review technical publications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Three years of experience in programming and systems design.
  • Experience with at least one programming language such as JavaScript, Python, Java, or C#.
  • Understanding of API frameworks and web services (REST).
  • Experience with SQL query language and database design and development.
  • Experience designing and developing reports using SQL Server Reporting Services, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Experience with full life-cycle technology application development.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with at least one SaaS ERP platform, such as Workday.
  • Experience performing extract, transformation, and loading of data according to business specifications.
  • Understanding of file transfer protocols and ability to troubleshoot file transfer issues.
  • Experience with at least one Cloud platform, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience creating, deploying, and managing reports on complex datasets.
  • Experience in object-oriented analysis and application design.
  • Experience with modern web application development frameworks, such as React.
  • Experience supporting application programs and producing user and technical documentation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize multiple competing demands.
  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
