The Application Developer III at EquiTrust Life Insurance Co. is a pivotal role responsible for developing system applications according to specific requests and implementing effective solutions. This position requires the individual to verify application logic by preparing test data for trial runs, testing and debugging applications, and ensuring that all documentation aligns with the accepted company standards. The developer is expected to stay current with the latest hardware, development techniques, and programming languages utilized by the company, continuously refining their technical skills in application development. Additionally, the developer will provide guidance and educational support to the development staff in the area of development technology. In this role, the developer will be tasked with creating new applications based on specifications, which includes writing application code, testing completed applications, and developing necessary documentation as per company development standards. The developer must maintain strict adherence to documentation standards, development techniques, testing protocols, and other related activities. Furthermore, the developer will be responsible for maintaining existing programs according to project task specifications, which involves coding alterations, testing corrected applications, and updating documentation as required. The Application Developer III will also lead or participate in program design, coding, and testing walk-throughs to minimize program issues. Keeping designated individuals informed about project and work status is essential, as is a commitment to developing technical skills in system application development. The developer will support the Information Technology team and other departments as needed and will take on additional responsibilities to meet departmental and company objectives. Active participation in fostering a positive and inclusive work environment is also a key expectation of this role.
