About the position

The Application Developer III position is a full-time role focused on developing and maintaining software applications within the banking industry. The developer will work under the Applications Development Manager to provide high-quality technology solutions that enhance operational efficiency and support organizational growth. Key responsibilities include coding in various programming languages, integrating applications, and collaborating with different departments to address user requirements and business challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze user requirements and business problems, design & develop programs, and maintain & install vendor supplied software.
  • Analyze and interpret complex data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for the organization.
  • Develop and maintain iSeries based software applications, specifically the core system (Horizon) and various vendor software applications and interfaces.
  • Write code in various languages including RPGLE, PHP, HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML5.
  • Design and code screen layouts, printed outputs, and interfaces with other systems.
  • Integrate applications and develop interfaces between disparate systems.
  • Convert designs and specifications into applications and programs, compile code into programs and correct errors detected during compiles.
  • Provide innovative solutions to complex business problems by leveraging technology.
  • Research and evaluate software documentation and recommend appropriate control parameters and specifications for processing.
  • Write documentation or review documentation written by others that describes installation and operating procedures.
  • Support users by consulting to determine availability of functions within software or to develop enhancements.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, translating technical jargon into layman's terms.
  • Create test transactions and run tests to find errors and confirm that programs meet specifications; analyze code to find causes of errors and revise programs.
  • Conduct unit and system integration testing and support users conducting acceptance testing.
  • Implement solutions with regards to scheduler application following standard procedures.
  • Research and evaluate software & hardware to assist in programming or to use as program platforms.
  • Collaborate with vendors to ensure seamless integration of new systems and applications.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements in technology to ensure systems remain current.
  • Occasional weekend and afterhours requirements to include periodic on-call times.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in computer science or related field, or 3+ years experience developing applications in a team environment.
  • Ability to write code in one or more of the following computer languages: RPGLE, JavaScript, PHP, HTML/HTML5.
  • Knowledge and experience in writing programs in RPGLE and Command Language preferred.
  • Knowledge of HTML/DHTML, client/server side scripting, and MS-SQL/My SQL/Oracle database development preferred.
  • Experience as a data analyst, with a strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices following all aspects of a software development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Ability to solve problems and support a variety of abstract and concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, handle confidential data, and deal with frequent interruptions.
  • Possess strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in simple terms; especially in documentation and reporting.
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills, pays attention to detail, and has the ability to think critically.
  • Ability to manage stress & work with minimal supervision.
  • Must successfully pass background investigation according to company policy.
  • Must be able to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
