About the position

The Information Services Specialist II, Option A position at the State of Illinois involves serving as an Application Developer within the Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT). This role supports the Department of Human Services (DHS) by developing, debugging, testing, and documenting applications. The position requires interaction with users to assess technical needs and perform intermediate-level application development tasks, contributing to the enhancement of the Eligibility Support Unit's programs.

Responsibilities

• Meet with users to determine technical needs.
• Perform intermediate level application development tasks.
• Write, debug, test, and document new programs or updates to existing programs.
• Document data, system, program flows, and production information as directed.
• Keep abreast of new developments in the Information Technology (IT) field.

Requirements

• Knowledge equivalent to completion of two years of college with coursework in computer science or related fields.
• One year of professional experience in a related Information Technology field.
• Experience in Java-based web development, DB2, and Rational Application Developer (RAD) or Eclipse and WebSphere.

Nice-to-haves

• One year of professional experience using Adobe LiveCycle.
• Ability to analyze data logically and exercise sound judgment in defining and evaluating problems.
• Developed verbal and written communication skills to present technical information clearly.
• Ability to analyze and diagnose system issues and coordinate efforts to resolve.
