About the position

The Application Developer position at Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) involves providing application design, programming, database development, and maintenance support for various financial applications. This role is critical in modernizing existing applications and integrating technology into the operations of the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT). The position allows for telework and is part of a team dedicated to improving government IT services for Minnesotans.

Responsibilities

• Provide application design and programming support for Budget and Accounts Receivables applications.
• Maintain and support existing applications including Budget Tracking and Salary Projections.
• Assist in the design and development of accounting systems and web reports interface.
• Modernize applications currently developed in MS Access and Oracle Forms to C# in the Azure Cloud environment.
• Collaborate with team members on multiple projects and support existing applications.

Requirements

• Minimum of three years of IT-related experience in application development and support.
• Knowledge and experience in developing applications using C#.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and support existing applications effectively.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for mutual understanding.
• Customer service skills including active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

Nice-to-haves

• Proficiency in designing and deploying cloud-based applications, particularly in Azure.
• Experience with Business Objects Enterprise C#.NET SDK.
• Knowledge of financial data and financial systems.
• Experience with SWIFT and SEMA4 PeopleSoft systems.
• Familiarity with HTML, XML, and web page design principles.
• Experience with mainframe systems, utilities, and Job Control Language (JCL).
• Experience with Crystal Reports, TOAD, and database mining tools.
