About the position

The Application Developer IV at Ryder System Inc. is a pivotal role that supports all phases of the Agile software development lifecycle. This includes gathering and analyzing user requirements, developing and testing code, responding to outages, and creating application system models. The position requires a strong focus on designing and developing enterprise-level software programs while maintaining and recommending software improvements to ensure optimal functionality. The developer will also be responsible for testing applications using various strategies such as Unit Testing, Integration Testing, System Testing, and Smoke Testing to ensure that everything functions correctly before handing off the build to the QA Team. Additionally, the role involves providing 24x7 on-call support for Severity 1 issues, managing Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for Severity 2 and 3 support tickets, and collaborating with the Product Owner to groom backlogs and provide capabilities. In addition to the core responsibilities, the Application Developer IV will develop, document, and maintain technical specifications and design documentation, including solution diagrams, flowcharts, checklists, migration plans, and core solution documentation for posterity. The role also requires monitoring application health by establishing dashboards and alerts, providing comprehensive support to internal customers and peers to resolve outstanding problems, and performing other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to lay out solutions in a manner that is understandable to both business and IT stakeholders, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and a command of computer languages to write, update, debug, and test programs. Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with a high degree of initiative, are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop enterprise-level software programs.
  • Maintain and recommend software improvements to ensure strong functionality and optimization.
  • Test the application using various testing strategies like Unit Testing, Integration Testing, System Testing, and Smoke Testing to ensure everything works before handing off build to the QA Team.
  • Provide 24x7 on-call support for Severity 1 issues, managing Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for Severity 2 and 3 support tickets.
  • Work with Product Owner to groom backlogs and provide capability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required in Computer Engineering or related field.
  • Master's degree preferred in Computer Science or related field.
  • Three (3) years or more Transportation Management and/or Distribution Management Technology preferred.
  • Seven (7) years or more Software Development required.
  • Strong knowledge in .net, SQL, and Azure solutions.
  • Knowledge of Service Fabric.
